Beach Retreats

Aug. 15, 16 we had a Young Women's beach retreat at my boss's beach house in Netarts. We had lots of fun and great weather. The girls played on the beach, painted fingernails and toenails, did hair, watched a movie, ate lots of food...it was a time to just relax and unwind before school starts up again.
Aug. 22, 23 we got to go back to the beach with my office. We stayed at a quaint little hotel in Oceanside just down the beach from Netarts. Again, the weather was gorgeous, the company was fun, and of course, the food was awesome. Michael's wife, Andria, is an excellent cook and knows how to cook for a crowd.
On Saturday, Jeff went crabbing with some of the crew. We had fresh crab for dinner. I also tried a cockle clam; I couldn't get it down - a little fishy and sandy!
The beaches were beautiful and not too crowded. Friday evening, we walked from the beach in Oceanside over to Netarts for dinner at Michael's house - about a mile walk. After a bonfire on the beach and roasting marshmallows and pistachios, we headed back for our hotel. The sun was going down and the tide was way out. We had fun exploring out on the sand bars. There is a tunnel that goes through the rock on one beach and leads to another; we checked that out Saturday morning. There were a lot of rock formations and agates on the other beach.
Sunday morning we checked out of the hotel and went to church in Tillamook and visited with Jeff's friend, Tracy. Then it was time to head for home. The only thing that could have added to our trip was having Kyle with us. He had to stay home and work.

i like the close-up of the girls at the beach. they look so cute! i wish we'd had more time so we could have gone to the beach with you guys. I finally was able to sort through all my pictures and post from our trip last night. it took me at least 2 hours! anyway, looks like you guys had a nice "end" to your summer!

how wonderful -- two weekends in a row at the beach! And it looks like you had bright sunny weather for both. That is a dream come true in the NW!

Now that sounds like fun. I have the beach here and it is a little warmer, but I don't seem to go there too often. Weird how that is. When it is right here.
