The proposal:
Ryan called and said that he officially proposed and gave Ashlynn an engagement ring (they had been talking and already had some initial plans). Ashynn's sister, McKall and her husband, Neil, helped them out. They had their house set up with a candlelight dinner and McKall asked Ashlynn to come over and help her with something. Ashlynn had Ryan take her. They got there and knocked on the door and no one answered so Ryan lifted up the mat and picked up the house key (which they left for him) Ashlynn said, "Ryan, put it back, that's their house key...wait, it this a secret plan?" Ryan unlocked the door and the lights were low and there was nice music playing (from his I-pod playlist that McKall picked up earlier), and a dinner all ready. Ryan said, "so then, she knew it was a secret plan!" Ryan had made a story book for Ashlynn to read. He told her that there would be a test question at some point during the story and the answer would be, "yes". He said it was all about their adventures since they started dating, so they took turns reading and then they got to a picture of a ring and the story stopped so they had to act that part out... Ryan said, "and she said 'yes'."
The wedding date:
August 20, 2010 at the Oquirrh Mtn. Temple

I found that quote from Rick's talk:
"It is not enough to know that God loves you. The gift is to be felt continually day by day (Alma 34:38). It will then be a divine motivator throughout your life."
Elder Gene R. Cook, Ensign May 2002
I really like it -- and I certainly need some good motivation!
